Privacy policy
1. Information PawTails processes
PawTails may process the following categories of information:
- A private device-based identifier created by the app and stored on your device.
- Household and membership data, including household membership, roles, invite links, and member display names.
- Pet care data you create, such as pet name, pet profile answers, routines, reminder settings, task completion history, streaks, calendar or history data, and custom reminder text.
- Pet images if you choose to add a pet photo.
- Safety or moderation reports you submit, including the report details, category, household or pet ID, reporter device ID, and optional target member reference.
- Push notification token data used to send app notifications and background updates.
- App analytics and diagnostic data collected through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.
- Subscription and entitlement status data processed through RevenueCat and Apple's in-app purchase system.
2. What PawTails does not require
PawTails does not require:
- email and password sign-up
- your real name
- phone number
- contacts
- precise location
PawTails does not appear to collect payment card details directly. Subscription payments are handled by Apple, and subscription status is managed through Apple and RevenueCat.
3. How information is used
PawTails uses information to:
- create and maintain your device-based app identity
- let households share pet care data between invited members
- save and sync routines, reminders, task completion, streaks, and related household activity
- support invite links and joining a household
- show widgets and keep app data in sync
- send notifications and silent background updates
- review abuse or moderation reports
- measure app usage and diagnose crashes, errors, and reliability issues
- manage premium access and restore purchases
4. Shared household visibility
PawTails is built for shared household use. If you join or create a household, other invited household members may be able to see shared household content, including:
- pet profile and routine data
- reminders
- task completion history
- who completed a task
- member display names
- household name and roles
Do not put sensitive personal information into pet names, member display names, reminders, notes, or safety reports unless it is necessary.
5. Notifications
PawTails registers for remote notifications and stores a push token in order to support notifications and background syncing. Related technical metadata such as platform, app bundle identifier, and a label associated with the device or member may also be stored for that purpose.
6. Analytics and crash reporting
PawTails uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.
These services may receive information such as:
- app launches and feature usage events
- app version and build information
- crash logs and diagnostic data
- the app's device-based user ID used by PawTails
- active pet or household context needed for debugging
This data is used to understand app usage, improve the product, and investigate failures.
7. Subscriptions
PawTails uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status and entitlements. Apple processes purchases through the App Store. PawTails does not directly collect full payment card information.
RevenueCat may process the app's device-based user ID and purchase or entitlement information so the app can determine whether premium access is active and allow restore purchases.
8. Local storage
PawTails stores data locally on your device and in the app group storage used by widgets. This can include:
- your device-based identifier
- active household or pet state
- routines and reminders
- task completion data
- widget state
- locally cached pet image data
9. Cloud storage
PawTails stores shared household data in cloud services used by the app, including Firebase Firestore. This may include household membership data, routines, reminders, task history, invite data, moderation reports, and related sync metadata.
10. Data retention
Data is kept as long as needed to operate the app and provide shared household functionality, unless it is deleted through app controls or removed from the service.
If you use the in-app delete or reset feature, the app attempts to:
- remove local app data from the device
- rotate or clear the device-based identity
- remove or deactivate shared household memberships tied to that identity
- delete owned pet or household records associated with that identity
- delete safety reports authored by that identity
Some data may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or third-party service retention systems.
11. Your choices
You can:
- choose your member display name
- choose whether to add a pet image
- choose what content to type into reminders, notes, and reports
- revoke a member's access through household controls if you are allowed to manage that household
- reset this device account and delete local data using the in-app deletion or reset controls
Because PawTails uses a device-based identity model, access recovery on a new device may require a household invite from an existing member.
12. Children
This Privacy Policy does not state that PawTails is directed to children. If you intend the app for children, that should be handled separately and carefully in both the product and App Store compliance materials.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the app's data practices change. If the policy changes, the updated version should be posted at the privacy policy URL used by the app.
